Integrated CAD/CAM At Its Best 

TopSolid'Wood, integrated CAD/CAM for custom woodworking, will be on display at AWFS, Las Vegas, 18-21 July, booth 1751. TopSolid'Wood is an integrated design, manufacturing and management (CAD/CAM/PDM) software specialized for wood processing. It comprises comprehensive standard components and processes specific to the wood industry. TopSolid'Wood outputs to the CNC plant floor through TopSolid'WoodCam, an integrated CAM solution which automatically produces the ISO code, via a post processor, to manufacture parts on CNC machinery.

TopSolid'Wood manages all the tasks involved in the engineering and machining of wood products, principally in the following sectors:

TopSolid'Wood, developed by the French CAD/CAM company Missler Software (ranked as the 8th CAD/CAM supplier worldwide), made its international debut at Ligna 2005, international fair for the wood industries. Since then TopSolid'Wood has been present at such important fairs as IWF 2006, Drema and Ligna 2007. In Europe the software is quickly becoming one of the major players in the wood industry. In France, the home market for this uniquely integrated CAD/CAM solution, TopSolid'Wood now dominates the educational market: Over 90% of all French wood schools are now equipped with TopSolid'Wood.

TopSolid'Wood made its first appearance on the US market at IWF last year. Since then the French developer has worked hard to put in place a network of certified wood resellers throughout the USA. Missler Software has been working closely with Biesse America, a leading provider of high-tech woodworking, glass, and stone systems, to successfully launch TopSolid'Wood on the US market. Participation in the Biesse One2One program has enabled Biesse customers to see the possibilities TopSolid'Wood offers for piloting Biesse CNC machinery.

TopSolid'Wood has recently been on demonstration at the One2One Biesse OPEN HOUSE, 21-22 June, in company headquarters in Charlotte, NC. Missler Software and resellers will have a TopSolid'Wood booth at the important AWFS fair in Las Vegas (booth 1751). You can also see TopSolid'Wood on the Biesse AMERICA booth, CENTRAL HALL, booth 5451.

Missler Software and its European resellers work closely with Biesse in Europe. TopSolid'Wood was on demonstration at the Biesse booth at Ligna in May and will be displayed at the Biesse S.p.A Headquarter open days in October later this year.

TopSolid'Wood was officially launched in China 2 weeks ago in Shenyang. The launch took place in the presence of 100 companes working in the woodworking industry and with the support of the Shenyang WoodWorking organisation.

The Chinese woodworking industry is currently experiencing rapid growth: much of the furniture sold in Europe and North America is, in fact, manufactured in China. Chinese woodworking companies are increasingly investing in numercially controlled machines and therefore the need for an integrated CAD/CAM solution such as TopSolid'Wood is on the increase.

Hangzhou Vocational & Technical College has recently purchased 40 TopSolid licenses to set up the first TopSolid Training Center in the Zhejiang Province. The presence of TopSolid in Chinese universities and vocational schools has proliferated over the past 2 years.

According to Arnaud de Boisboissel, International Sales Director of Missler Software, "Working closely with Chinese Educational institutions is essential for Missler Software. Companies need to hire a skilled workforce in order to properly use CAD/CAM software. By equipping Chinese schools with TopSolid we will provide a much-needed workforce which will pave the way for CAD/CAM investment by companies." Hangzhou Vocational & Technical College will use TopSolid in its graduate project for students.

More than 150 students attended the inauguration ceremony at the campus on June 12th.

Equipped with TopSolid'Wood and TopSolid'WoodCam since 2003, the company Boursin Pavitub has developed its activity from fitting out pharmacies to the creation and interior design of varied sales outlets. From a modest workshop to the creation of a large store, a CAD/CAM software helps gain time… and deals.

Sheetmetal parts often need reinforcements. A simple cylinder can deform the sheetmetal in order to make such a reinforcement. The TopSolid function "Sheet metal, Other Operations, Forming by a tool" enables this operation to be carried out with ease. All you need to do is generate a cylinder in the correct plan using this function by defining a connecting fillet.
