Progress CAD Software solution for punching and bending tools
Designing complete cutting tools in 3D
An efficient CAD solution for cutting and/or sweeping tools should allow strip design by simply inserting and designing stations, and at the same time ensuring complete part associativity. This should be compatible with a powerful CAD/CAM solution like TopSolid. The CAD solution should also be capable of dealing with free-form shapes, in addition to working with mechanics and machining without interrupting the digital process chain. Furthermore, the software needs to provide industry-specific components and processes. TopSolid’Progress meets all these requirements and is therefore the flagship CAD solution for designing cutting tools in 3D.

- Unstamping by simulation (Autoform “OneStep” and Forming Technology Incorporated technologies).

- Progressive Die tool designed with TopSolid’Progress.

- Details of cutting and stamping stations.

- Overall view of a tool.

Design a complete tool in 3D
In addition to the powerful tools already included in TopSolid’Design, TopSolid’Progress provides the full range of specialized functions to correctly and efficiently design a progressive tool. TopSolid’Progress’ blank creation tools combine both unbending and unstamping. The treatment of simple operations (cutting, folding, shearing and forming) is immediate and the treatment of complex operations (stamping/unstamping) is powerful and pertinent. The insertion or removal of stations at all times and all modifications carried out on the model part are automatically propagated to all stations. The assembly of die bases, guides, attachments and other standard elements is customizable and can be reused in the form libraries to allow the designer concentrate on the active parts of the tool: inserts, punches, matrices, springs … Document creation includes the generation of overall drawings, BOMs, detailed drawings (dimensions with tolerances) and drilling tables. The CAD/CAM link with TopSolid’Cam and TopSolid’Wire enables parts to be manufactured without converting or losing data and by fully exploiting all CAD generated data.
