Increased productivity with TopSolid’Mold 2012

Missler Software has announced the launch of the 2012 version of TopSolid’Mold, its integrated CAD/CAM solution for the design of molds and the machining of tools for mold makers and cutting tool makers. 

To be efficient a CAD mold making solution should propose increased automation for repetitive mold design operations. In order to manage all projects the CAD software should ideally be completely integrated with a CAD/CAM solution that can manage all shaped forms, general mechanical engineering and machining operations in a parametric and associative way. Thanks to these qualities TopSolid’Mold has become a worldwide reference in the design and manufacture of molds. 

TopSolid’Mold 2012 offers improved response times for collaborative work, better design management tools and a new export mode for electrode data. 

Optimized collaborative design

Significant optimization work has been performed to ensure important time gains for collaborative design work and its initial set-up. Missler Software has optimized the following:  

• Reading and data-save during the synchronization process thanks to the binary mode being activated by default instead of the compressed mode.
• The comparison time during the set analysis to find modified elements.
• The undo management that affects memory consumption.

This optimization reduces computation time from 30% in the simplest case to 85% in the management of complex mold designs! These 3 optimization topics are fully configurable, one by one or all in the same time to get faster results.

Improved design management tools 

To enable you to better manage you study TopSolid’Mold 2012 offers several new functions: 

• Design tree : When you edit a mold element in the design tree, you can now modify its BOM properties, as is already the case in TopSolid’Progress. 
• TopSolid’Mold visualization: Several new display modes are available in order to better manage your mold design : 
  • Showing BOM indexes: It is now possible to show BOM indexes in the visualization window. 
  • Showing element IDs: It is now possible to show elements IDs (@) in the visualization window. 
  • Display sorting: You can now sort the display of the TopSolid’Mold visualization window to better manage and control your mold design: Sorting by index, inverted sorting by index, sorting by name and sorting by Z value all now available.  

Export electrode data 

In addition to the possibility of associatively designing your electrodes it is now possible to better manage information concerning your design study by configuring in TopSolid’Electrode document models which will enable you to exploit your conception data easily.  Thanks to an adapted “tag” system you can create your own personalized standard models.  Electrode data is then exported in a text, html or xml format. You can also use this new mechanism to make electrode data available within TopSolid’Viewer to enable third parties thoroughly consult the design study. 

The risk of errors is thus reduced while benefiting from improved communication with all parties throughout your project (Methods Dpt, suppliers and sub-contractors).
