Inoforges is a company specialized in die forging parts from brass, copper and aluminium alloys. Based in Breteuil Sur Noye in the North of France, the company employs 210 staff with annual sales figures of €19 million.

Receiving its first ISO certification in 1995, the company is now considered one of the world leaders in the field of die forging and has recently opened a base in Poland.

Inoforges was first equipped with 4 TopSolid work stations in 2003. Previously the company had been using another well-known software but as the need for an integrated CAD/CAM system grew it had to look elsewhere. Inoforges needed 1 solution to respond to their CAD/CAM needs and this was one of the main reasons the company choose TopSolid. Despite the inherent difficultly in changing software system the company has not looked back since choosing TopSolid.

Opting for the TopSolid integrated CAD/CAM system means that today there is no separation between the Engineering & Research department and the Methods Department – 1 person manages the project from conception through to manufacturing. This is quite an innovative undertaking for the company who sees the benefits of such an organisation structure as being greater efficiency and increased sharing of information.

Inoforges works in specialized, high precision fields such as medical, welding, security equipment, collective tap trade, automobile, heating, electrical connections, etc. As many of its principal competitors work exclusively in the automobile sector this leaves the way open to Inoforges to exploit other niche markets. Today Inoforges is a company that sells its know-how and benefits greatly from the highly specialised and high quality of its manufacturing processes. Traditionally the company has always been a die forger, even if nowadays the importance of its non-core activities such as machining and assembly are increasing.

Die forging is seen as a high quality manufacturing process. In general the major advantages of this process are the low cost and long life of die forging tools coupled with the excellent mechanical qualities which are characteristic of die forged parts. Die forged parts are recognised as having a high rate of resistance; are airtight (thus applications can be found in gas and boilerwork appliances, medical appliances and security parts) and the surface of the final product is of a high quality often not requiring polishing or other finishing touches to be applied.

One year after the implementation of TopSolid Inoforges has no regrets. According to Philippe Schops, Sales Manager and Laurent Bourbier, Design Manager at Inoforges: “When we decided to change software and look for an integrated CAD/CAM solution we also looked for an editor that would respond to and fully support the needs of the small company. Missler Software fitted the bill exactly providing us with just one interlocutor for our CAD/CAM needs and offering excellent support.”
